August Project Update

22 August 2025

Consultation outcomes

Thank you to everyone who shared their ideas to help shape the Perth Entertainment and Sporting Precinct.

We received a wide variety of suggestions from community and stakeholders, ranging from special events and permanent amenities for cyclists and other community sporting groups, to landscape, environmental and amenity ideas for everyday park users.

These contributions have helped to define the vision for the precinct:

To create a dynamic and activated parkland that supports diverse sports, cultural and entertainment experiences, connecting people, celebrating culture, and inspiring year-round activity.

The project attracted strong interest and participation during the five-week consultation period, with the top-line engagement figures outlined below.

Design update

The Perth Entertainment and Sporting Precinct Alliance (PESPA) design team is reviewing community feedback and continuing to collaborate with key stakeholders to shape the precinct design. This work focuses on testing design options to balance the needs of future users and enhance year-round activation for the precinct. They are also investigating how to improve accessibility and connections within the precinct and particularly with Optus Stadium. Sustainable outcomes are also being embedded across both the multi-functional facilities and landscaped areas.

Detailed site investigations are underway at Burswood Park until October 2025. These investigations have been approved by the landowners and are being carried out under strict management controls. The investigations include, geotechnical, service locating, surveying and environmental surveys.

Environmental Protection Authority Assessment

The Perth Entertainment and Sporting Precinct Project will be referred to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) for assessment in the coming weeks.

Once the EPA has accepted the referral, it will go out for seven days public comment via their consultation hub. See https://consultation.epa.wa.gov.au/
