Detailed design and site investigations

30 July 2025

The Perth Entertainment and Sporting Precinct Alliance (PESPA) has been appointed to deliver the detailed design of the new Perth Entertainment and Sporting Precinct at Burswood Park.

PESPA comprises Civmec Construction and Engineering, Seymour Whyte Constructions, and Aurecon Australasia, working in collaboration with the Office of Major Infrastructure Delivery.

Building on insights and ideas from early engagement with stakeholders and the community, PESPA has now commenced detailed design of the precinct. Further community input will be invited as the design progresses in the coming months. Outcomes from the initial engagement will be shared in the coming week.

What's happening

Further site investigations will be carried out at Burswood Park from late July to October 2025 to inform the ongoing design development. The investigations include:

  • Service locating – to identify existing underground utilities such as water, gas, electricity and telecommunications.
  • Geotechnical investigations –to understand the ground conditions on which the infrastructure will be built.
  • Surveying – to verify existing ground levels around the precinct.
  • Environmental surveys – including groundwater and pond water monitoring and testing.
  • Traffic and pedestrian surveys – to better understand how people and vehicles move through the area.

What to expect

  • Works will take place during the day and are not expected to cause disruption to nearby residents, businesses, or visitors to Burswood Park.
  • You may notice more project personnel onsite from late July 2025.
  • All works will comply with approved environmental and safety management plans.
  • Signage and traffic management will be in place as needed to ensure public safety and minimise disruption.
  • No vegetation will be removed as part of these investigations.
